Birth and Postpartum Doula

I am Isamarys Medina Rivera, I was living in Puerto Rico, until my age of 21. I am younger daughter of a family of four, compose by a geriatric nurse mom, one older sister and a carpenter dad. Since the beginning of my life, I always have a passion for works in maternity areas. When I moved to Virginia, I decided that it was the time to embrace that passion. Especially when I was surrounded by Hispanic moms who feel vulnerable, by language and overwhelming with a lot of emotions. My desire to become a support for women grow every time I meet single mom, and Hispanic families. My better way for becoming that support was, becoming a Doula. Motivated for it, I took the Birth and Postpartum Doula training with Dona international. After that I create Amarys Doula, Child of the moon.

As a Hispanic military wife, I know how hard it can be. And I know it can be hard give birth, and having a healthy postpartum, when your military partner is not around. That is why to military families I am always looking for assist them. After I took the training for Birth and Postpartum Doula, I become a placenta specialist, creating placenta pills, arts, and other keepsakes for the families. I want to give back to my client their nutrients, the iron, and other things for help them have back they strength and give them a piece of art that they body create. After my first postpartum experience, mature moms have a special place in my heart, and will be more that an honor for me to serve them. To my birth and postpartum client, I help them with respect, love and try to give them all the knowledge possible. That way in the labor work they will feel confident and empowered, and in postpartum they will feel positive on the new journey, and I will be there to help them adjust to this new live.
